New Programming Comes to KACU

We're proud to announce the addition of new NPR programs to our daily schedule. It's no longer enough to offer news only in the morning and afternoons. It’s essential to have access throughout the day to news you can trust. Abilene deserves to hear the best of what public radio has to offer and it all starts today!

Come join us to discover new voices with honest answers, creative passions, political insight, and enjoy plenty of laughter along the way.

Today at 9 a.m., you’ll meet veteran journalist Tom Ashbrook, host of the call-in talk show “On Point”. It’s a live conversation about the country and world we live in. "In ballet, 'on point' means up on your toes. In war, it’s the lead soldier on patrol. In conversation, it’s the heart of the matter,” said Tom. "That’s where we strive to be every day with our listeners — up on our toes, out front, at the heart of what’s going on.” Tom extends a personal invitation to join the conversation every weekday from 9 - 11 a.m. by calling 1-800-423-8255.

At 11 a.m., you’ll meet the co-hosts of “Here & Now”, Robin Young and Jeremy Hobson. Robin and Jeremy help you navigate the fluid world of news as it’s happening in the middle of the day, with timely, smart and in-depth news, interviews and conversation. “Here & Now” includes interviews with NPR reporters, editors and bloggers, as well as leading newsmakers, innovators and artists from across the U.S. and around the globe.

At

1 p.m., we’ve reinvigorated the Get Smarter Hour with three new programs: "TED Radio Hour", "A Way with Words”, and “Backstory with the American History Guys”. You’ll learn about new technology, new words, and how our unique history helps shape who we are today.

At 2 p.m., extend a warm welcome to “Fresh Air” with Terry Gross. Discover the contemporary arts through insightful interviews full of probing questions and unexpected discoveries. Terry is known as one of the best interviewers in the business and isn’t afraid to give as much time as needed to get to the heart of the matter. The show complements these deep interviews with comments from well-known critics and commentators.

At 3 p.m., we bring you the BBC’s flagship show “Newshour". With compelling reports from the BBC's team of correspondents across the world, you’ll hear probing interviews with the newsmakers at the heart of every story.

This weekend, enjoy fan favorites “This American Life” and “Radiolab” starting at 1 p.m. on Saturdays. It’s hard to believe, but there are even more new shows still waiting for you as you listen. Check out our full scheduleonline.
