The Appetizer Radio Show began as a project in 2003 while host D. Grant Smith was studying in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department at Abilene Christian University and working as a student announcer at KACU. The program covers styles of music from jazz to alternative rock, blues to folk, singer-songwriter to R&B and more, and serves as an outlet for emerging indie artists.

The Appetizer is produced weekly near KACU in the Abilene area.
