McMurry University kicks off centennial celebration

McMurry University kicked off its Centennial Celebration Thursday with a ribbon cutting, raising the centennial flag, and connection for the McMurry community over tacos and music.

Nancy Smith is the centennial coordinator, “Over the past hundred years, there’s been a lot of history, and it’s worth celebrating. It’s a time for us to sit back and say, ‘Guys, look where we’ve come.'” She says although Thursday was the beginning of the celebration, the university will continue to commemorate its 100th anniversary all year long through decade class-reunions, special athletic and academic events and an on-campus centennial museum.

Thursday's celebration included McMurry students, faculty and staff, as well as alumni and prospective McMurry students. The next 100 year celebration events will be at homecoming in late October.
