Hendrick Home for Children hosted its 14th annual Dancing with the Abilene Stars fundraiser Thursday night. Since its inception in 2010, the event has raised nearly $4.5 million for the families of Hendrick home to jump-start their lives. This year's event raised $503,000.
Committee member Sarah Stevens says the event draws strong support from the whole Abilene community, “I think this event is really special because I think it brings people from a whole lot of different areas of the community together and it takes people out of their comfort zone a lot of time but shows how willing people are to step out of their comfort zone for such a good cause.”
11 local dancers paired with local professionals competed in this year’s event.
