Habitat for Humanity throws second annual homecoming gala

Habitat for Humanity’s second annual homecoming gala last Friday featured a theme of “Pretty in Pink,” At the gala attendees dressed for the theme bid on bake sale items. The money raised at the gala will help the organization build a home for a local family.

Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Abilene, Rosten Callarman, says the funds allow the organization to pursue its mission to put God’s love into action, “Our mission is seeking to put God’s love into action. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Obviously, the piece that we’re most well known for is the homes part, though the communities and hope piece are also incredibly important. This past year, we built four homes and our goal for next year is to build six homes, leading up to eventually I want us to get to the point we’re building 16 homes per year.”

To date, Habitat for Humanity has built 175 homes in Abilene and they’re currently working with eleven partner families.
