Hardin-Simmons University students, staff, and faculty during their 2018 medical mission trip.

Last Spring, 20 students and faculty members of The Physicians Assistant Program at Hardin-Simmons University traveled to the Dominican Republic for a medical mission trip. It was the second time the group had taken their training to serve people who lack access to adequate healthcare. In 2018, the group treated more than 700 people during their five days in Choco, Peru. This coming spring they will return to Peru. They partner with Family Hope Centers focusing on meeting to medical and physical needs of the community.

Organizers have started fundraising to cover the costs of travel and supplies and will continue their efforts until they leave for Peru.  They have several events planned in the coming months.  Interested individuals can contact Dr. Eames directly: Jennifer.Eames@hsutx.edu.
