Protestors left a rally with President Trump Wednesday, and besieged the U.S. Capitol building.  Congress was in the process of certifying the Elector College vote in the 2020 Presidential Election.  KACU’s Heather Claborn spoke last night with U.S. Congressman Jodey Arrington.  He described what it was like inside the House chamber, calling it surreal.  Critics claimed on Twitter that Arrington bears some of the blame because of his rhetoric, but he defends his decision to object to the certification of the Electoral College vote for the 2020 presidential election.

19thDistrict Congressman Jodey Arrington is co-chairing a task force aimed at finding solutions for serious issues for rural healthcare institutions.  "Healthcare in the United States is sick," Arrington says.  "But healthcare in rural America is in the ICU."  More than 90 rural hospitals, including two in Arrington’s congressional district, have closed in recent years.  Arrington says part of what’s driving the rural healthcare crisis is onerous regulation, such as one requiring hospitals to provide in patient care.

The legislation called the Goodlatte 2 bill failed spectacularly in the U-S House of Representatives Wednesday.  Republicans had formed a compromise bill hoping to find an agreement on immigration reform after a previous version failed to pass the House.  But even before the bill was called for a vote, observers predicted its demise.  Texas' 19th District Congressman, Jodey Arrington spoke with KACU's Heather Claborn shortly after casting his own "No" vote.

Congressman Jodey Arrington has been lobbying his colleagues to keep funding in the federal budget for the B-1, stationed at Dyess Air Force Base.  He talked with KACU's Haley Remenar about the budget, his efforts to get safety net protections for cotton farmers included in the Farm Bill, and his desire to see tougher work requirements for SNAP, which accounts for the majority of Farm Bill funds.

U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington and fellow Republican and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Mac Thornberry, visited Dyess Air Force Base yesterday to hear from airmen and learn more about their needs. The congressmen toured a C-130J Super Hercules and a B-1B Lancer.

“This was a big day for West Texas and for Abilene and Dyess,” Arrington said. “The Chairman has tremendous demands on his time, bases and military facilities all around the world and he chose to spend his time with us today.”
