KACU 25th Anniversary

KACU CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF PUBLIC RADIO

* On Thursday, March 8, 2012, KACU will celebrate 25 years of public radio at the Abilene Civic Center with a luncheon at 11:45 a.m.

* KACU serves as an opportunity for students from ACU, Hardin-Simmons, McMurry and other area colleges and universities to acquire hands-on-experience in broadcasting while the station provides music and programming for Abilene and the Big Country.

* Dr. Jess Fletcher, Dr. Royce Money and Dr. Thomas Kim are Honorary Chairs for the Luncheon Event, KACU’S Anniversary Celebration

* The Luncheon will honor Dr. William Teague and the visionaries who brought Public Radio to Abilene and the Big Country. There will be an entertaining program in the form of an “old time radio show” written by Charlie Hukill.

* There are 4 principal levels of Sponsorship: Golden Microphone at $5,000, Silver Microphone at $2,500 Bronze Microphone at $1,000 and Event Table Sponsor at $600. Each level provides a table for 10 people, event/program recognition and public service announcements based on the level of sponsorship .

* We are hopeful of raising $100, 000. $50,000 will be applied to KACU programming expenses (unless otherwise designated by donor) and excess over $50,000 will initiate an Endowment for KACU to be placed at the Community Foundation of Abilene. This celebration will replace the spring money- raising event.
