Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium Applause Series brings musical talent to Sweetwater

The Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium Applause Series "Christmas Special" was this weekend.

It featured Naguanda Nobles, soprano soloist, guest conductor Dr. Sarah Herrington, guest composer Gene Murray who composed a 25 minute finale, High Plains Choral Society, and local talent Martha Taylor, pianist and the Southwestern University String Quartet featuring local talent Chase Crouch.

The show was preceded by an Applause Series member Christmas party. Where members mingled as the Southwestern University String Quartet played holiday tunes.

The show was followed by an Art exhibit at Henderson Gallery by Sweetwater middle school and high school art students.

Katie Pantoja joined KACU as a full-time staff in August of 2022 as the Digital Media Editor and Operations Assistant. In March 2023, Pantoja took on the role of Director of Operations and Digital Media. She oversees and develops daily programming, KACU.org, and the station's social media content and outreach along with training and mentoring student staff. She occasionally covers the arts scene in the Big Country.
