Christmas is in full swing at the Abilene Zoo

The Christmas Celebration features Santa’s reindeer, iceless ice skating, a Polar Bear Express puppet show and a walk through Bethlehem. Jackson Sepeda says he loves the various displays, and his two-month-old is in aw of all the Christmas lights, “[I] like the array of lights, like how they really have it separated into different sections, it’s kind of, really, made you want to go to the whole zoo.”

For the fourth year of this event, organizers included many holiday staples, such as hot chocolate, Santa, the Grinch, and snow every 30 minutes. The event extends past usual closing and even gives the animals some extra enrichment. The zoo’s supervisor of marketing and conservation, Clay Carabajal, says the Christmas Celebration will be open through December 23rd, “This is an event you don’t want to miss. and if you’re worried about the cold, bundle up, because whether it’s 70 degrees or 7 degrees, we’re still having a Christmas Celebration here at the zoo.”

Details including ticket prices are available on the Abilene Zoo’s website.
