Brian Yates to become the city of Abilene’s Place 4 City Council member

Brian Yates defeated Scott Beard in the race for Place 4. With more than five thousand people voting for him, Yates claimed 65% of the vote. Yates says he is humbled by all the support and encouragement he has received, “That sustained me throughout the whole experience and kept me going at the end when everybody was exhausted.”

He also says he is excited to begin this new journey serving the citizens of Abilene, “I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve and I’m eager to get involved and start making sure that Abilene continues on a good path.”

Along with Yates, Weldon Hurt will be moving from his current Place 4 seat to the mayor’s seat, and Blaise Reagan will be joining the city council as the new Place 3 member.
