One week left in Abilene's Burger Brawl

There are just a few days left for residents to participate in the inaugural Downtown Abilene Burger Brawl.

Individuals can pick up a voting card from any participating location, which they get stamped for each burger they try. The Burgers in the running include Matera Bar and Grill’s Fire and Smoke Burger, Bogie's Deli’s Chili Cheeseburger, Cypress Street Station’s Southern Hot Mess, Grain Theory’s Brewhouse Burger, and The Local’s HAMburguesa.

Christian Juarez, a manager at The Local, says the Burger Brawl has been good for business during a season that is typically a bit slower, ”A lot of folks just coming in, ‘Oh, we’ve been here, we’ve been there. We really like this burger but we’re looking forward to your burger’. So a lot of friendly competition between businesses. But it’s also something in the community that is engaging for our downtown restaurants, which has been great.”

Voting cards must be turned in to participating restaurants, the Chamber, or the Convention and Visitors Bureau by 5 p.m. on February 15. Abilene will find out who wins the Brawl on February 16.
