Big Country Air Fest draws big crowd despite rainy weather

Turnout for 2024 Big Country Air Fest at Abilene Regional Airport was impressive, especially with Saturday’s cloudy skies and the forecast-threatening storms. Crowds of people from Taylor County showed up to get a look at the wide selection of aircraft on display at the festival, eat at the food trucks, and socialize with friends.

The main attraction of the Air Fest was the air show. The show featured flyovers from a variety of aircraft, like the Dyess B-1B, Dyess C-130J, B-52, E-3. Guests also enjoyed acrobatics from skilled pilots and static displays. The 2024 Air Fest celebrated Women in Aviation, including a display about the WASPS, or Women Air Force Service Pilots, who served during World War II.
