Abilene Education Foundation awards grants

The Abilene Education Foundation and other AISD administrators and faculty traveled across the district the past two days awarding grants to teachers from elementary to high school.

In total, 86 teachers and classrooms received $64,000. Teachers will use the money for projects and supplies to help them grow their students' minds.

Tracy Young teaches at The LIFT Center. He received 1400 for his program, which is to create solar generators from toolboxes. Young says he is excited to see what this money will do for his program and the future his students will create, “Here at The Lift, we take any kid that we can get and we will take them as far as they want to go to help them reach their dreams. That’s kind of what we are all about here at ATEMS, anyone can do this.”

The LIFT Center teachers and classrooms claimed a total of eight awards and $6,200.
