Rep. Arrington rallies Abilene amid brisk early voting

Congressman Jodey Arrington paid Abilene a visit Tuesday to help Get Out The Vote for local Republicans.

Arrington told the small crowd at the Front Porch that the Big Country has played an integral role in elections in the past and that this year is no different. He said the outcome of this election will have a big impact on Americans everywhere, “They often say this is the most important election of our lifetime and they’re right. It is the most important election. It is an inflection point in the history and the life of this country.”

Early voting numbers are at an all-time high in Texas, with a significant increase in registered voters compared to 2020.

Taylor County has seen an increase of about 20,000 registered voters, and a sharp increase in early voting turnout compared to the last presidential election, with 8,703 ballots cast over the first two days of early voting.  6,134 voters showed up in the first two days of early voting during the last presidential election.  Governor Greg Abbott added 18 early voting days that year because of COVID-19 precautions.

Arrington is running for reelection to Texas District 19 of the U.S. House for the fourth time.
