At the party retiree Myra Dean said she doesn’t agree with all of Lambert’s policies, but she believes he has the strength of character to defend the rights of West Texans, even at the risk of losing in the primary, “Stan had the courage to stand up about school vouchers: that was huge for me. And it gives me the confidence to know, if there’s something else that comes up that works against the people of West Texas, I believe he’ll stand up again.”
Lambert said that in order to create effective policy changes, it’s important to find common ground, which he expects to be a challenge with so many new members of the state house, “That doesn’t mean that every vote needs to be 150 to zero, there’s still going to be some people that are going to vote against certain policy. But we need to have a vast majority of people that are all coming together.“
Lambert is returning to serve a fifth term representing House District 71, which includes Taylor, Nolan, Callahan, and Jones Counties. The next legislative session begins January 10th.
