Taylor County Elections Administrator Freda Reagan says turnout was lower than initially expected, possibly due to the exceptional turnout during early voting, but she was pleased, “Overall, a very good day. I mean, it was busy, was steady. Most of our places were very steady all day long. No equipment issues whatsoever. No voter issues, as far as, you know, we didn’t have any problems, if you will.”

The one surprise was a last-minute mail delivery. The office received 70 ballots shortly before 7 p.m.

Ragan said that was “not ideal,” but her team handled them quickly, “It delayed things a little bit, but I hey, we still got done at ten o’clock so.”

At the end of the day, 55,594 voters cast ballots in Taylor County during this election, out of 90,174 registered voters.
