In his speech, Hurt talked about general street maintenance, water, quality of life, safety bonds, and the rebuilding of ABI program to help with infill development. With the main topic he covered being the construction on Cypress Street, "Those improvements right now include 20-foot sidewalks, street reconstruction, beautiful hand-paved intersections, it’s going to be something that we are going to be proud of for years and years."
After Hurt spoke a panel of the city's leaders discussed questions asked by Abilene residents. The panel included Misty Mayo, the president and CEO of the Development Corporation of Abilene, who addressed Lancium, a clean energy company currently constructing a data center, "Lancium is developing a master development for a data center. Everyone has a phone. I know you probably have your phone in your hand right now. Those phones require data. So it’s a giant electronic filing cabinet.”
The data center in Abilene will be a key part of President Donald Trump’s $500 billion Stargate AI initiative.
