Sing Song is this weekend for ACU. The a capella competition has brought Abilene traffic and tourism dollars from the large crowds that are in the city for the weekend.
Sing Song has been a tradition of the university since 1957. It consists of ACU students taking part in many ways and prepping for it months in advance.
McMurry University and Hardin Simmons University also have their own versions and traditions that bring in traffic and tourism to Abilene that are similar to Sing Song.

Sing Song Hosts and Hostess' audition in October, and many of the sororities/fraternities pick their sing song director a year in advance.
All acts create their own costumes and sets. Making the process more than just about vocals and choreography.
There are 15 acts this year and performances by the hosts and hostesses accompanied by the Sing Song dance team, ACU's acapella groups, and the Sing Song band.
Each year, a top act is chosen from each of the three divisions: Men’s, Women’s, and Class.
For the Men's and Women's Act, the men of Gamma Sigma Phi and the women of Ko Jo Kai have won for the past 2 years. The class act that won last year was the Seniors' Act.
The first performance is tonight at 8 pm at ACU's Moody Coliseum, followed by two performances on Saturday at 2 pm and 8 pm. Certain category winners are judged and announced each show. The overall winners are announced at the final show at 8 pm.
