Abilene local Corey Patterson recounts his unexpected journey to quadruple bypass surgery after experiencing a minor cramp in his chest during a walk in October.

Following a failed stress test in December, doctors discovered he had multivessel coronary artery disease, leading to surgery just days before Christmas. Now, three and a half months into recovery, Patterson shares his experience with cardiac rehab at Hendrick Medical Center, where a dedicated team helped him regain his strength.

He is joined by Joe Traweek, a cardiac rehab specialist, who emphasizes the critical role of rehab in physical and mental recovery, highlighting its benefits in reducing anxiety, improving heart health, and providing essential education on diet, exercise, and risk factors. Patterson urges listeners to pay attention to their bodies, stressing the importance of early detection in preventing life-threatening cardiac events.
