The Abilene Police Department reiterated Tuesday that it is conducting an ongoing investigation into the sale of THC containing vape products at local businesses.
In a statement APD said an increase in the devices at local schools is behind the move. According to the department there have been more than 100 incidents of students possessing nicotine and THC products. They say more than half of the incidents resulted in felony charges and referrals to the Juvenile Detention Center.

APD sent compliance letters to about two-dozen businesses in July. Officials say half of the businesses have made necessary changes, but they are continuing their crackdown on THC products. One Abilene business, CBD House of Healing, was shut down in August, after officers served a search warrant and confiscated thousands of items.
Two days after the raid Chaile Allen announced that she would resign from her position as Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Abilene, after she was denied access to her clients during the raid.
Attorneys Chaile Allen and Cory Clements described their experience with this case on today’s West Texas Dispatch.
The Abilene Police Department declined to join the show today, citing the on-going investigation. Officials referred KACU to the press releases they sent about the enforcement action and the letter sent to businesses in July.
