40 Years More, KACU's Sustainability Campaign

As we welcome 2026 – KACU’s 40th anniversary year – we have much to celebrate and even more to look forward to. For four decades, KACU has been a trusted voice for news, music, and storytelling in West Texas. Thanks to you, our listeners, we’ve grown from a small local station into a vital hub for thoughtful conversation, cultural connection, and community engagement.

Now, as we enter this milestone year, KACU stands at a pivotal moment in our history. Due to the recent loss of funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), KACU is now fully community-supported. This means that our future depends entirely on you – our listeners, members, and local partners who believe in the power of public radio to inform, inspire, and connect.

To ensure that KACU continues to serve West Texas for generations to come, we are launching the KACU Sustainability Campaign, with a goal of raising $500,000. In addition to our regular drives in the fall and spring, which provide essential support for our day-to-day operations, this campaign will help KACU balance our budget in the coming years as we adjust to the new fiscal landscape. These funds strengthen our operations, support local journalism, enhance programming, and help us invest in the technology and staff needed to keep our signal strong.

Will you consider making a gift today to support KACU’s future?

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve already made significant progress toward this goal – thanks to early supporters who have pledged matching funds up to $150,000. That means every dollar you give today will be doubled, making your support go twice as far in sustaining KACU’s future.

We can’t do this without you. Your gift – no matter the size – will help ensure that the voices, stories, and sounds of West Texas continue to have a place on the airwaves for the next 40 years and beyond.

KACU has always been a reflection of the community it serves, and this moment is no different. Thank you for believing in KACU and for being part of this remarkable journey. Together, we can build a strong and sustainable future for public radio in our region.
