Living History Cemetery Tour

Living History Cemetery Tour

Join the Abilene Preservation League as we bring history to life at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery Saturday, April 29th, 2023. Tours will begin at 4pm and will be every 10 minutes. The final tour will begin at 6pm. You are welcome to join us at anytime between 4 and 6pm.

Attendees will receive a tour brochure with a map to find the burial sites of 10 featured Abilenians who contributed to our city's birth and growth. Upon finding the sites, you will meet actors portraying the iconic Abilenians including the likes of David S. Castle, Col. Morgan Jones, Chief J.J. Clinton, C.W. Merchant, Beatrice Butler, Nellie Parramore, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Scarborough, Col. Asa Holt, and Luis Santibanez. These actors will give you an intimate look at our city's history by sharing photographs and telling stories from their portrayed Abilenian's life.

Please park on Cottonwood Street and wear comfortable walking shoes for this tour. Check-in for the tour will be at the cemetery entrance closest to the corner of Cottonwood and North 8th Streets.
