No longer just a dream for the future or a mere figment of science fiction writers’ imaginations, artificial intelligence—better known as AI—is here now! John Lennox, Professor of Mathematics at Oxford University, sees AI as both a promise and a threat. It may be a morally neutral tool used for immense good or cause significant harm. Professor Lennox’s book, 2084: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity explores the potential benefits and dangers of this technology from a Christian perspective.
Join us Thursday, October 2, from 7 to 8:30 PM at the Discovery Center Creation Museum—810 Butternut Street in Abilene, Texas—for our monthly Discovery Adventure Theater movie night, featuring the Dr. Lennox’s presentation, Is AI a Threat or a Promise? You can view a teaser at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AlssvZiBaQ. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the movie starts at 7:00. We’ll have free popcorn, cookies and water for our guests. Admission is by donation.

ACU's Summit (formerly Lectureship), held on the campus of Abilene Christian University, is designed to offer spiritual renewal, enrichment, and fellowship. The theme for this 119th year is “Encounter: Spirit of the Living God.”
This year, Summit will focus around specific leadership groups—adult formation, Hispanic ministry, intergenerational ministry, preaching, and small/rural churches—in an effort to engage with God, with one another, and with material designed to equip one for effective service. We will also host two general interest tracks, open to everyone. The Old Testament community will dive into Isaiah 40–66, and the New Testament community will explore The Chosen.
As part of Summit, noted theologian and author, Dr. Nijay Gupta, will lead our Anchor Point plenary session. In addition to the thought-provoking words of Dr. Gupta, we will spend time enjoying a meal together and lifting our voices in praise to God with worship led by United Voice Worship. We are also excited to welcome keynote speakers, Naomi Walters (Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry, Rochester Christian University), Jerry Taylor (Associate Professor Emeritus, Abilene Christian University), and Nathan Burrow (Preaching Minister, Hillcrest Church of Christ) as they reflect on the theme of “Encounter.”
We invite you to join us in Abilene on October 8-10, 2025. For more information and to register, visit the Summit website at acu.edu/siburt-summit.
