On Golden Pond is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home in Maine for the forty-eighth year. The play by Ernest Thompson explores the often turbulent relationship between a father and his adult daughter, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage. It is a classic American comedic drama that's every bit as touching, warm, and witty today as when it debuted off Broadway in 1978. ACT's production is directed by Scot Miller and features Victoria Spangler, Mike Walston and Amanda Keith among the talented cast.

Hammonds + West will lead a fun, interactive workshop in The Grace Museum’s Main Gallery for interested participants on July 18, 2025! This workshop is meant to support individual reflection on their current exhibition The Great Turning: We Gather, We Grow, We Tend, beginning with an exercise that reveals the deep time in the world around us—even in everyday objects. Hammonds + West will invite you into ways of using drawing or poetry to attend to the natural world around us. You will explore the connections between yourself and nature in your daily life. Then, you will imagine the stories and images of the next version of the world you would like to enter. Both Hammonds + West will provide generative, engaging prompts as jumping off points, and you can choose whether to use drawing, writing, or some combination to respond. No art or writing experience necessary.

ACU's Summit (formerly Lectureship), held on the campus of Abilene Christian University, is designed to offer spiritual renewal, enrichment, and fellowship. The theme for this 119th year is “Encounter: Spirit of the Living God.”
This year, Summit will focus around specific leadership groups—adult formation, Hispanic ministry, intergenerational ministry, preaching, and small/rural churches—in an effort to engage with God, with one another, and with material designed to equip one for effective service. We will also host two general interest tracks, open to everyone. The Old Testament community will dive into Isaiah 40–66, and the New Testament community will explore The Chosen.
As part of Summit, noted theologian and author, Dr. Nijay Gupta, will lead our Anchor Point plenary session. In addition to the thought-provoking words of Dr. Gupta, we will spend time enjoying a meal together and lifting our voices in praise to God with worship led by United Voice Worship. We are also excited to welcome keynote speakers, Naomi Walters (Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry, Rochester Christian University), Jerry Taylor (Associate Professor Emeritus, Abilene Christian University), and Nathan Burrow (Preaching Minister, Hillcrest Church of Christ) as they reflect on the theme of “Encounter.”
We invite you to join us in Abilene on October 8-10, 2025. For more information and to register, visit the Summit website at acu.edu/siburt-summit.
