U.S. Air Force Sergeant Felisha Lubin returned to Abilene on Thursday after a six-month deployment to an undisclosed location in the Middle East, where temperatures soared to extreme highs.
In a heartwarming surprise, Lubin reunited with her daughter, Jasmine Boyd, a senior at Abilene High School, who had been led to believe her mother’s deployment was delayed. Jasmine was overjoyed to see her mother earlier than expected.
“I didn’t want to miss anything of her senior year, but I am grateful it was over the summer. I’m home early, so I’ll be there for senior night. I’ll be there for prom, and all the things,” Lubin said.
As she stood surrounded by family and friends, Lubin fought to contain her emotions, admitting she would likely cry during the car ride home.
This deployment marks a significant moment for Lubin, who plans to retire next year after 28 years of service.
