Chance Ferguson is running for the Republican nomination in the 2026 race for Texas House District 71.

Early voting kicked off this week in Texas’ 2026 primary election.

With 5 term incumbent Stan Lambert not seeking re-election the Republican primary is more crowded than usual.

Four Republican candidates are competing for the nomination–the winner will face the sole democratic candidate, Diana Luna, in the November mid-term election.

Chance Ferguson is an Abilene resident, whose family has been local to this area for generations. After spending decades in public service, he decided to move to the political sector. Ferguson unsuccessfully challenged Congressman Jodey Arrington in the 2024 primary. He spoke with KACU's Josiah Wonnell about his reasons for running for the state house seat.
