Jay Hardaway sealed his spot as the Republican candidate for Texas House District 71, beating out three other hopefuls, Liz Case, Chance Ferguson, and Joshua Ohlmacher.
Hardaway said he attributed his success to classic campaign strategies such as travelling around the district to meet voters, raising money, and good advertising.
However, as he moves forward, he said he wanted to stay focused on the work that still needs to be done.
"That’s 42% of people that chose somebody else,” Hardaway said. “And so that’s meetings, that’s reaching out to other candidates and making sure their issues get heard. People act like the election is over now, we still have the general in, and so there’s a lot of work to be made up."
Hardaway will face the sole Democratic candidate in the race, Diana Luna, in the November election.
